Threshold is excited to announce the appointment of Maritza Garcia as its new Landlord Support Supervisor. Maritza brings extensive experience to the role. She previously served as a Housing Specialist and Housing Location Specialist at HOM, Inc. In that position, she excelled at managing complex housing programs. She built strong relationships with property owners, ensuring successful housing placements. Her extensive background in housing services makes her a perfect fit for this critical leadership role at Threshold.
Maritza takes over the role from Trevor Thundershield, who has been named the new Housing and Health Opportunities (H2O) Coordinator for HOM, Inc.
Role and Responsibilities
As the Landlord Support Supervisor, Maritza will lead a dedicated team of Landlord Support Specialists. Her primary responsibilities include overseeing the efficient processing of Request for Tenancy Approvals (RFTAs), lease renewals, security deposit dispositions, and risk mitigation claims. Additionally, Maritza will ensure compliance with housing regulations and standards while fostering collaborative relationships across departments to enhance service delivery. Her leadership will play a vital role in achieving Threshold’s mission of providing stable and supportive housing solutions.
Maritza’s role also involves maintaining and strengthening relationships with property owners and operators. She will work closely with property owners and operators to address concerns and ensure compliance with program requirements. Maritza will also provide guidance to improve their experiences within Threshold’s programs. Through open communication and consistent support, she aims to retain and expand the network of partners.
A Deep Understanding
According to Daniel Davis, Director of Landlord Relations for Threshold, Garcia’s proactive approach will help create a supportive environment that benefits both property owners and operators and program participants.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maritza to the team as our Landlord Support Supervisor,” Davis said. “Her deep understanding of landlord relations and housing support programs, combined with her passion for helping others, makes her an invaluable asset to our organization. We are confident that her leadership will enhance our ability to serve property owners and operators and participants alike, furthering our mission to end homelessness.”
In her new role, Maritza will also focus on team development and operational excellence, Davis said. She will provide training and guidance to her team, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties effectively.
“Beyond her professional achievements, Maritza is deeply committed to the principles of Housing First, a model that emphasizes providing stable housing as a foundation for addressing other challenges individuals may face,” Davis said. “Her dedication to this approach underscores her alignment with Threshold’s values and mission.”
Thundershield Takes on New Role as H2O Coordinator
In addition to Maritza’s appointment, Threshold is pleased to announce Trevor Thundershield’s new role as Housing and Health Opportunities (H2O) Coordinator for HOM, Inc. Trevor, a 10-year veteran of HOM, Inc., brings extensive experience in housing solutions and landlord engagement to this groundbreaking initiative.
The H2O program, funded through a $110 million federal Medicaid grant, integrates housing support with health care services to address the interconnected challenges of homelessness and health care in Arizona. As the H2O Coordinator, Trevor will oversee program administration, stakeholder collaboration, and supportive services coordination to ensure the program’s success.
“Our goal is to create sustainable pathways out of homelessness by addressing both housing and health care needs,” Thundershield said. “The H2O program represents an opportunity to provide people with the tools and resources they need to build a healthier, more stable future.”
Role and Responsibilities
Trevor’s responsibilities include managing housing subsidies, coordinating transitional housing support, and connecting participants with Medicaid-funded wraparound services. His leadership drives H2O’s goals of reducing homelessness, improving health outcomes, and fostering long-term stability. HOM, Inc.’s participation in H2O reinforces its commitment to providing innovative housing solutions and expanding opportunities for individuals experiencing homelessness.
“H2O is an innovative program that recognizes housing as a cornerstone of health and stability,” Thundershield said. “I’m excited to collaborate with our partners and providers to deliver meaningful solutions for Arizona’s most vulnerable populations.”
HOM, Inc. CEO Mike Shore also praised Trevor’s appointment, emphasizing his critical role in the H2O initiative. “Trevor has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to housing stability,” Shore said. “His ability to build strong partnerships and navigate complex program requirements will be invaluable as we implement the H2O program.”
